Dengue is an infection caused by a virus. You can get it if an infected mosquito bites you. Dengue does not spread from person to person. Symptoms include a high fever, headaches, joint and muscle pain, vomiting, and a rash.
Dengue NS1 antigen test (NS1 stands for nonstructural protein 1), is a test for dengue, it allows rapid detection on the first day of fever, before antibodies appear some 5 or more days later.
To interpret test results use the reference range in the laboratory report.
